The main differences IвЂ™ve found are that the story is better in 2 and 2 feels more D&D like in that your party is more independent and have their own goals, which I REALLY liked. People liked divinity 1 but tbh i was pretty surprised that divinity 2 was lauded as game of the year by all these AAA games journalists, because itвЂ™s pretty similar to 1, honestly. It's a great game with some clear places they improved upon in 2. Some books as well, like example there is a book a trader sells that isn't normally a trader but technically is, that if you read you can then open up a giant loot chest at the end of a big fight, way later in the game. Fortunately you'll learn very quickly that most of the quests are easy enough if you pay attention and read all the dialogue. The journal is even harder to follow, and you'll very frequently find yourself on the edge of just googling a quest step. You lose all your skills and must re-acquire every skillbook when you respec, and it costs money, and it's not available until too late in the game to make that big a difference The skills system is a bit more wonky, and re-speccing is expensive and punishing. As in, there isn't an armor bar that 'protects' you from being CC'd, you can always be cc'd unless you're immune to it.
